Congo DR coach Florent Ibenge will not likely risk injured captain Youssouf Mulumbu in Wednesday’s 2015 CAF Africa Cup of Nations semi-final against C?te d’Ivoire in Bata.
The 28-year-old West Bromwich Albion defensive midfielder missed the last two matches from the tournament in Cheap Fifa Coins after having suffered a hamstring injury. Mulumbu had hoped being fit to the semi-final, but Ibenge said the skipper hadn’t recovered fully and he would not rush him back to action.
“He is probably 70 percent fit now, but I’d personally rather play somebody that is fully fit and that i also don’t want to rush him back, then he might be out provided a few months,” said the Congo DR handler.
Another England-based Congo DR footballer, defender Gabriel Zakuani from third-tier Peterborough, suffered an ankle sprain within a dramatic quarter-final victory over Congo Brazzaville. Officials said he’ll be sidelined for about 10 days, ruling him from the rest of the Cup of Nations, which ends Sunday.
